Fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) components are the optical building blocks of a fiber optic gyroscope: the broadband light source, the multifunction integrated optical chip (MIOC), the fiber sensing coil, the photodetector receiver, and the wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) coupler that routes light between them.
GNC Tech supplies FOG components at the subassembly level, allowing gyroscope designers to source individual optical chain elements matched to their architecture. The catalog covers five component families — MIOC chips, fiber optic coils, broadband light sources, PIN-FET receivers, and WDM couplers — with published optical and mechanical specifications per model.
Component families for fiber optic gyroscope assemblies. Each subcategory publishes full optical and mechanical specifications per catalog model.
Identify which element of the optical chain is being sourced — source, MIOC, coil, receiver, or coupler. Each family page covers its own parameter set.
1310 nm or 1550 nm band, consistent across source, MIOC, coil, and receiver. Mismatched wavelength components degrade gyroscope performance.
Sum insertion losses across all chain elements against source power to confirm adequate detected signal.
Polarization-maintaining fiber type and pigtail interfaces must match across MIOC, coil, and WDM.
Fix wavelength band, target grade, and closed-loop vs open-loop topology.
Choose source, MIOC, coil, receiver, and coupler from the component families below, keeping wavelength and fiber type consistent.
Check combined insertion loss against source power and detector sensitivity.
Send the full component list with target specifications — matching and availability are confirmed per project.
